We were having a large backlog of production orders in our factory. Hence maximizing throughput by reducing the overall run time was our top priority . However the complexity was a large number of products , each having production options on multiple machines. On top of it the cycle times differed on different machines. Thus assigning the workload optimally to different machines was utmost important to increase the throughput while completing production in time. We engaged with Solvop to solve this problem and found their approach to be quite scientific and reliable. We took the trials of their optimizer tools and found it to be quite effective. We are happy to note that it improved the run time by 5 to 7 % and we would like to recommend them to manufacturing companies interested in improving their factory throughput.
Due to implementation of this project, our company was able to capture the benefits in inventory rationalization and improved service levels. The inventory turns improved by about 20% and the service levels also went up to 98% resulting in a total saving of INR 11 million in the last year.
